Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan have established a joint company Green Corridor Union LLC to implement the "green" energy corridor project to Europe.

On July 1, representatives of:

  • Azerbaijan's "Azerenergy" OJSC
  • "National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan"
  • "KEGOC" (Kazakhstan)
signed an agreement to establish and approve the charter of the joint venture.

Historical Background:

In November 2024, during COP-29 in Baku, the presidents of the three countries signed a strategic partnership agreement. Azerbaijan's Deputy Energy Minister Elnur Soltanov emphasized the importance of this agreement.

Expert Comment:

"It is projected that in 2030, Uzbekistan's electricity demand will be about 120-125 billion kWh. We have numerous generation facilities with capacity of approximately 135 billion kWh. All excess capacity will be exported to Europe once the infrastructure is ready," noted Umid Mamadaminov, Deputy Energy Minister.
