The President instructed Uzbekneftegaz to ensure that forecasts for oil and gas production are met
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev August 11got acquaintedwith measures to ensure stability in the oil and gas market and uninterrupted supply of hydrocarbons to the economy and population.
The presentation addressed issues of production, import, processing, storage and supply of oil and gas to consumers.
It was noted that the expansion of production capacity and the growing needs of the population increase the demand for natural gas and petroleum products. In these conditions, it is necessary to take into account seasonal demand in advance, provide the domestic market with the necessary volumes of resources and prevent unreasonable price increases.
The President pointed out the need to accurately calculate the needs of industries and regions, prioritize domestic demand and adhere to delivery schedules.
Launch of 27 wells
The work of Uzbekneftegaz to maintain natural gas production, use the potential of existing fields and commission new wells is separately considered.
It is planned to put 27 wells into operation in August.
Through work at the Yangi Kultak, Niyoz, Koratau, Marvarid and Tegirmon fields, it is planned to ensure additional production of 887 thousand cubic meters of natural gas (about 1% of the total average daily volume of all gas producing companies in June). Chairman of Uzbekneftegaz Abdugani Sanginov previouslynotedthat August and September will be months for the company to increase natural gas production.
"Newspaper" earlierwrotethat in June average daily natural gas production fell to a record low level since at least the beginning of 2022 - to 83.3 million cubic meters. This is also 19.3% compared to May and 26.8% year on year.
The President instructed to establish daily control over all processes - from drilling wells to connecting them to the gas transportation system, as well as to ensure the uninterrupted operation of power supply and production infrastructure.
The head of state also noted the need to evenly supply oil and gas industry enterprises with raw materials, make more efficient use of existing capacities and increase the production of products that are in high demand in the domestic market.
Avoid artificial shortages
Responsible persons have been instructed to timely supply hydrocarbon resources to the regions in the required volumes and to form reserves in advance.
In addition, enterprises involved in the production, transportation and sale of oil and gas products must coordinate their work.
To maintain stable prices, it is planned to maintain a sufficient level of supply in the market, put products up for exchange trading based on demand, and reduce production and logistics costs.
A separate task has been set to strengthen control over preventing unreasonable restrictions on supplies, creating artificial shortages and actions aimed at inflating prices.
Liquefied gas production will increase beyond plan
To maintain the balance of supply and demand in the domestic market, Uzbekneftegaz was instructed to ensure the fulfillment of established forecast indicators for oil and gas production.
In addition, the production of liquefied gas by the end of 2026 is instructed to increase to 606 thousand tons instead of the previously planned 520 thousand tons.
Earlier, on January 12, PresidentinstructedUzbekneftegaz will increase daily gas production from 66 to 70 million cubic meters and ensure production of at least 25.4 billion cubic meters of gas in 2026.
This figure is only slightly higher than the company’s actual production for 2025 - 25.2 billion cubic meters. At the same time, last year’s result was 1.3 billion cubic meters lower than the forecast of 26.5 billion cubic meters.
In previous years, Uzbekneftegaz also repeatedly lowered production targets. For 2022, the forecast was 34 billion cubic meters with an actual 32.2 billion. The forecast for 2023 was reduced from 34.1 billion to 32.3 billion cubic meters, and for 2024 the plan was 29.3 billion cubic meters.
For 2026–2027, the authorities set the task of stabilizing gas production and implementing more than 300 geological and technical measures. In January, it was also ordered to increase the efficiency of geological exploration, increase reserves and ensure the financial recovery of Uzbekneftegaz.
