Issues of accelerating the project in Ustyurt were discussed with the UK company
As part of the international energy week "Baku Energy Week - 2026" held in the city of Baku, Azerbaijan, a meeting was held between the Chairman of the Board of JSC "Uzbekneftgaz" Abdugani Sanginov, the Vice President of the prestigious British Petroleum (BP) company Gordon Birrell and the Senior Vice President for the Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey region Giovanni Cristofoli.

Constructive cooperation between the parties, as well as the company`s participation in the project of the agreement on product distribution (SRP) implemented in the Ustyurt region, were highly appreciated.

During the negotiations, as a continuation of the agreements reached in Tashkent, it was noted that a detailed action plan for this project until 2029 was developed. At the same time, issues of revising the deadlines for the completion of geophysical data interpretation were discussed.

Abdugani Sanginov proposed to consider the possibility of starting drilling works at the end of 2027 in order to speed up this strategically important project. In this regard, opinions were exchanged on optimization of project stages and acceleration of practical processes.
During the meeting, the management of "British Petroleum" noted that one of the main principles of the company`s activity is to establish long-term and stable cooperation in each country.
"We have been working in the countries where we operate for decades. We are entering the market of Uzbekistan not for a short term, but for the purpose of 50-60 years of strategic cooperation," the company`s representatives noted.

During the negotiations, Abdugani Sanginov, Chairman of the Board of JSC "Uzbekneftgaz", expressed his opinion about the factors necessary for the success of the company`s activities in Uzbekistan.
He said that one of the most important issues in the oil and gas sector is the widespread introduction of modern technologies.
"Today, new approaches are necessary for our company, from drilling operations to all stages of the production chain. Many processes are still based on old technologies," said Abdugani Sanginov.

Also, the "British Petroleum" side announced that it has the capabilities of deep analysis of seismic data in the cross-section of layers using high-power supercomputers and modern algorithms located in the USA.
The representatives of the company stated that they are ready to introduce these innovative solutions and advanced digital technologies to the oil and gas sector of Uzbekistan.
At the end of the negotiations, a mutual agreement was reached to further strengthen partnership relations in the oil and gas sector and expand them with new practical results.
