Cotton yield in Uzbekistan reached 56.2 c/ha

Cotton yield in Uzbekistan in 2026, according to current data, reached 56.2 centners per hectare. This is the highest figure for the entire period since 1990. A total of 5 million 2 thousand tons of cotton was harvested from a sown area of 890 thousand hectares.

In 2025, cotton was cultivated on 876 thousand hectares, 3 million 986 thousand tons were harvested, and the yield was 45.5 centners per hectare. Over the year, the sown area increased by 14 thousand hectares, gross output rose by about 1 million 16 thousand tons, and the yield increased by 10.7 centners. In 2024, 3 million 181 thousand tons were obtained from 1 million 4 thousand hectares, with a yield of 31.7 centners.

According to current data, production volume in 2026 became the second highest for the entire period under review. Only the 1990 figure was higher, at 5 million 58 thousand tons. At that time, cotton was grown on 1 million 830 thousand hectares, and the yield was 27.6 centners. Thus, the current harvest is almost equal to the 1990 level, although the area has more than halved and the yield has roughly doubled.

The sown area under cotton generally decreased throughout the entire period: from 1 million 830 thousand hectares in 1990 to 1 million 377 thousand in 2000, 1 million 318 thousand in 2010, and 1 million 34 thousand in 2020. The smallest area was recorded in 2025 and amounted to 876 thousand hectares.

From 1990 to 2018, the yield fluctuated between 20.6 and 27.6 centners per hectare. The minimum was in 2003. Since 2019, the figure began to rise: 27.4 centners in 2019, 29.6 in 2020, 32.4 in 2021, 33.8 in 2022, and 36.6 in 2023. Until 2025, this last value remained the highest in the statistics.

The lowest gross harvest for the entire period was recorded in 2018: 2 million 310 thousand tons with a yield of 21.6 centners per hectare and a sown area of 1 million 71 thousand hectares.
