Uzbekistan plans to transfer liquefied gas supplies to the private sector

In Uzbekistan, next year they plan to transfer liquefied gas supplies across the country to the private sector. At the same time, the authorities intend to expand the involvement of investors in geological exploration and develop deep processing of hydrocarbon raw materials.

A pilot project with the participation of entrepreneurs has already been launched in Andijan Region. Currently, 3.8 million households use liquefied gas. In the transition to the new model, the main requirements should be uninterrupted supplies, safety, and quality service for the population.

It is also planned to attract foreign partners to the search for oil and gas. In Ustyurt, geological exploration work is being carried out on six investment blocks with the participation of Azerbaijan’s SOCAR and Britain’s BP. To offer foreign investors, another 128 blocks have been prepared in other regions of the country.

According to preliminary estimates, these areas may contain 5.8 trillion cubic meters of gas and 560 million tons of liquid hydrocarbons. These figures reflect an estimate of potential resources, not confirmed reserves ready for industrial production.

The authorities also intend to expand hydrocarbon processing within the country. In Bukhara Region, it is planned to implement a logistics support project for the production of polyethylene, polypropylene, and polyester products. In addition, modernization of the Bukhara and Fergana oil refineries is envisaged.

At the synthetic liquid fuel complex in Kashkadarya Region, according to the presented data, up to 1.5 million tons of fuel and other products are produced per year.

Earlier, it was reported that the country planned to put up six solar and wind power plant projects with a total capacity of 2.2 thousand megawatts for open tenders.
