Bukhara Oil Refinery to Double Processing Capacity to 5 Million Tonnes a Year

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the US$328 million modernisation project of the Bukhara oil refinery, the President’s press service reported.

In January–September 2026, the refinery produced 1.36 million tonnes of petroleum products worth 12.1 trillion soums. Exports of products and services over the period reached US$99.5 million, with a year-end target of US$116 million.

The modernisation includes installing hydrotreating and naphtha isomerisation units, as well as improving feedstock separation and deep processing of heavy residues. This will increase output of high-octane AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline meeting the Euro-5 standard.

Once the project is completed, annual refining capacity will rise by 2.5 million tonnes, from 2.5 to 5 million tonnes, increasing domestic supply of petroleum products and expanding export opportunities.

The President instructed officials to complete the modernisation on schedule, ensure high-quality work and make the new equipment compatible with existing production facilities.
