The President of Uzbekistan reviewed the progress of implementation of major projects in the copper industry

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev was reported today on the progress of implementation of large investment projects in the copper industry and plans for the future, reports a correspondent of Dunyo news agency.

According to the press service of the head of our state, copper is becoming a strategic raw material for industry, energy, electrical engineering, the digital economy and “green” development. In this regard, special attention in our country is paid to expanding geological exploration, effective development of existing reserves, deep processing of raw materials and production of products with high added value.

In March of this year, the first stage of copper processing plant No. 3 was put into operation at the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Combine. The cost of this project, implemented as part of the development program for the Yoshlik-1 field on an area of 196 hectares, is $2.7 billion. Once the factory reaches full capacity, it will be possible to process up to 60 million tons of ore per year and produce about 900 thousand tons of copper concentrate.

During the presentation today, information is provided on the ongoing work to commission the next stages of the factory, ensure the stability of technological processes and timely reach the planned production capacity.

In particular, a clear schedule has been defined for the phased ramp-up of ball mills in the grinding shop and flotation lines to full capacity.

The task has been set to increase the volume of ore processing at the 3rd copper processing plant by the end of this year, fully launch all the main technological chains and ensure production stability.

After the full launch of the 3rd copper processing plant, the daily production of copper concentrate at the plant is expected to increase from 2.4 thousand to 5 thousand tons. The introduction of modern technologies will reduce energy consumption and costs, as well as increase labor productivity.

The presentation also addressed the issue of accelerating the development of the project for the 4th copper concentration plant.

Currently, basic engineering documentation is being prepared as part of the project, and excavation and drilling work is underway at the construction site.

In this project, taking into account the experience of the 3rd factory, special attention is paid to the optimization of technological solutions, as well as the rational use of energy and water resources.

In addition, measures have been identified to improve the technological chains of gravity, flotation, concentrate drying and tailings thickening together with international engineering companies, as well as to prepare a feasibility study for the project to attract funds from foreign financial institutions.

Responsible persons were given instructions to allocate the necessary land plots for the 4th copper processing plant, continue preparatory work at the construction site, complete basic engineering documentation within the established time frame and clarify the phased launch plan for the project.
