Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will study the creation of a petrochemical plant

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — KazMunayGas JSC and Uzbekneftegaz JSC signed a Framework Agreement on the joint implementation of a project for the construction of a petrochemical complex for the production of linear alkylbenzene (LAB).

The signing took place on November 15 during the state visit of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Uzbekistan.

The document formalized the agreement to begin a detailed study of the investment project, including the development of project documentation and carrying out the necessary technical and economic calculations.

It is expected that the capacity of the future complex will reach up to 50 thousand tons of products per year. Linear alkylbenzene is a key raw material for the production of synthetic detergents and household chemicals.

The parties plan to make the final investment decision after completing the design work and assessing all the parameters of the future enterprise.

The conclusion of the Framework Agreement was an important stage in the expansion of industrial cooperation between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan and confirms the strategic nature of cooperation in the petrochemical sector.

The implementation of the project will ensure domestic demand for raw materials of the chemical industry, reduce import dependence and create additional incentives for the development of processing and the launch of new production of household chemicals in both countries.
