The energy industry is undergoing significant changes around the world, a process of transformation is underway - a transition towards “clean energy”. Uzbekistan is actively involved in the process of developing a "green" economy. In his speech at the first plenary session of the Council of Foreign Investors, the President of Uzbekistan, H.E. Sh. Mirziyoyev, noted that in accordance with the adopted Strategy, it is planned to increase a share of energy generated from alternative sources in the total energy mix up to 25 percent by 2026. In this regard, such a significant event in the energy industry is of particular importance, as it reflects the latest innovations and trends in the development of the industry.

The basis for all events, which today are united in a single format of the Uzbekistan Energy Forum was laid by the flagship Oil and Gas of Uzbekistan - OGU exhibition, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. The role of this exhibition to the development of the oil and gas, mining and energy industries is enormous. It gave rise to such major exhibitions in Uzbekistan as UzBuild (construction), MiningMetals Uzbekistan (mining, metallurgy), Power Uzbekistan (energy), which were recently held jointly with OGU.

The first launch of OGU took place in 1997, it was the first event in the fuel and energy sector of Uzbekistan, which was supported by the National Oil and Gas Industry Corporation Uzbekneftegaz, which for a quarter of a century has been providing its significant official support to the event. This year, Uzbekneftegaz JSC, which ranks 11th in natural gas production company in the world and is the largest state-owned company in Uzbekistan, is the General Sponsor of the exhibition and has prepared an extensive programme. There will be a special exposition demonstrating development and achievements of the industry over recent years in Atrium Hall 1.

The exhibition has approached its anniversary with brilliant results. These are over 2,500 participating companies, 250 sponsoring companies, 47 countries, and around 150,000 visitors.

Looking back, one can see how the exhibition has been evolving along with the industry. It was attended by both industry giants and start-up companies that were just entering the oil and gas market of Uzbekistan. It has become a connecting bridge between local and foreign enterprises. Thus, in the course of numerous meetings and negotiations during OGU exhibitions and conferences, promising cooperation between national and such well-known foreign companies as Russian Lukoil, Chinese CNPC, Korean KOGAS and many others has strengthened.

In 2008, OGU Exhibition received a status of the event approved by the World Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), which was a recognition of its contribution to the development of the national industry.

The anniversary exhibition brought together the major players and will be located in Pavilions No. 1, 2 and 4 of the Uzexpocentre NEC.

At their stands one can get familiar with the latest developments in the field of oil and gas equipment and technologies: software, direct-acting solenoid valves, machine tools, injection molding machines, petrochemical catalysts, etc.

It is also necessary to note participation of national companies that supported the exhibition: Afsona Invest, AGNKS Texno Service, Process and Water Chemicals, AC Energy, SPETS TEXNIKA TASHKENT, Uzbekkhimmash, and their products will be presented not only in pavilions, but also in an open area.
