The main directions of tariff policy in the fuel and energy sector until 2035 have been determined

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz ) – The Government of Uzbekistan has defined the main directions of tariff policy in the fuel and energy sector until 2035.

The resolution "On additional measures to improve the tariff policy in the fuel and energy sector" was adopted, which approved the following main directions of tariff policy:

1. Establishment of competitive and fair tariffs for consumers of electric energy and natural gas.

2. Ensuring the financial stability and investment attractiveness of the power grid.

3. Expansion, modernization and diversification of production capacities, including public-private partnership (PPP) projects, increasing the efficiency of production activities, improving the quality of products and services.

4. Phasing out repeated subsidies in tariff setting and ensuring social protection of the poor and low-income segments of the population by providing targeted subsidies.

5. Establishment of transparent, consistent and predictable regulation in the fuel and energy sector, including the gradual introduction of long-term tariff formation to reduce regulatory risk for investors.

6. Ensuring the sale of electricity and natural gas to the population on the basis of a single pricing policy in all regions of the republic by 2035.

The document also approved:

- Regulations on the procedure for setting tariffs for electricity and natural gas;

- The composition of the Interdepartmental Commission on Tariffs under the Cabinet of Ministers;

- Regulations on the Interdepartmental Commission on Tariffs.

The document will enter into force on April 1, 2025.
