Rossiya Markaziy Osiyo va Xitoyga gaz yetkazib berish hajmini oshiradi

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — In the coming years, Russia intends to increase gas supplies to Central Asian countries to 10-15 billion cubic meters annually, TASS reports.

According to Alexey Grivach, Deputy Head of the National Energy Security Fund, work is underway with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan to increase the capacity of the Central Asia-Center gas pipeline in reverse mode. The supply potential is estimated at 10-12 billion cubic meters, and Finam analysts believe that this volume can reach 15 billion cubic meters per year.

At the same time, Russia will increase gas exports to China. It is expected that pumping through the Power of Siberia gas pipeline in 2025 will exceed the design capacity of 38 billion cubic meters thanks to additional agreements with Chinese partners. In 2027, the launch of the Far Eastern route is planned, which will bring the total volume of supplies to China to 48 billion cubic meters.

In addition, two new gas pipeline routes to China are being considered: Power of Siberia 2 through Mongolia with a capacity of 50 billion cubic meters and a pipeline through Kazakhstan designed for 45 billion cubic meters (35 billion for China and 10 billion for the gasification of Kazakhstan).

Experts note that the Power of Siberia 2 project looks preferable, since it will allow gasification of Siberian cities and provide large Chinese agglomerations with energy resources. However, the key factor will remain economic feasibility, including the cost of construction and the agreed price formula.

The Iran-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project has been discussed since 1996. In 2021, Gazprom refused to participate due to the high cost, but in the new geopolitical conditions, this project may again become relevant.

As Grivach noted, negotiations on transit through Iran are at an early stage. However, Finam analysts believe that, given the development of the LNG market, interest in the gas pipeline to India has decreased.
